Public Policy in Action

Praxis Residency Programme

The Public Policy in Action Praxis Residency Programme is a two-year certificate course that offers an exceptional opportunity for young professionals to engage in high-impact public programmes in districts across India. We equip Praxis Learners with academic frameworks to provide techno-managerial support with purpose, addressing the complexities faced by government entities and offering contextualized solutions tailored to the needs of marginalized communities.

We equip Praxis Learners with academic frameworks to provide techno-managerial support with purpose, appreciating the complexities faced by government entities and offering contextualized solutions tailored to the needs of marginalized communities.

Practicum

Similar to academic semesters, the programme consists of four practicums, each lasting six months.

Areas of Impact

At the core of the PPiA Practice lies the placement of learners within public administration, providing a unique leverage for learners to practice ‘Public Policy in Action’ in a live setting. This allows them to engage with the opportunities, complexities and vulnerabilities of the public system in real-time. Praxis Learners are currently placed in six states, supporting ongoing work and making real contributions to the projects assigned.

By the end of the 2-year programme,
PPiA Learners will have:

Contribute to nation-building by creating equal life opportunities with inter-generational equity for the most marginalized communities in rural India

Placement within complex public administration to practice public policy in a live setting

2-year intensive applied learning program where the academic content amounts to a 1-year post-graduate level course in public policy

Consolidated stipend of Rs 75,000 per month covering field, travel, and work-related expenses

Knowledge and understanding of core theories, concepts, drivers and issues in formulation, planning and implementation of public policy and programmes

Perspectives, skills and abilities to draw on a variety of disciplinary paradigms in understanding policy and policy making.

Each track has a comprehensive design that engages with the realities in real-time, develops a high degree of sensitivity for each stakeholder, builds core competencies, and connects with perspectives required to prepare a holistic professional.
